Poem: Into the Arms of a Stranger

Like a dog who escapes danger

Evades trouble in a dark alley

Appears in the sunlight

Confused

Not actually bruised

But very alive

So happy to see a friendly face

So eager

Jumps onto the lap

And into the arms of a stranger

This

Is not what I want

Our first date to be

And why

I haven’t called you back

About the poem:

As I write this poem, I remember our dog Oreo. One time she got hit by a motorcycle as she ran across the street. She went flying but somehow managed to just keep running, right into the arms of someone walking down the street! haha

How do you know when you’re ready to enter an intimate relationship? Or if you should? Or how to do it gracefully? Uh, I don’t. Comments?
